Hi, I’m Fritz! (JuteJitsu)

I’m a San Francisco based rope artist and service top, with over 12 years of experience.

I train shibari under Hajime Kinoko (Tokyo), and am a certified Ichinawa instructor.

What is Shibari / Kinbaku?

Shibari refers to the art of tying in an aesthetic way. It’s a general term for tying or restraint, and does not necessarily imply eroticism.

Kinbaku specifically refers to tying a person tightly, in a Japanese style. It implies a level of intensity/restraint, and the term has deep Japanese cultural roots.

A man in black clothes is tying up a woman with tattoos on a tatami mat, using ropes in a bondage scene inside a room with white curtains.

For me, rope is a pathway to deep trust, beauty, and a rare type of platonic intimacy. My mission is to share authentic, meditative Japanese rope bondage in an approachable, inclusive way.

When training in Tokyo, I experienced a vibrant rope scene that provides participants and spectators with a meditative, soulful experience. These communities embrace the fun and beauty of human connection. I aim to bring this perspective home, and spread the joy of playful Japanese rope bondage to my community.

If you would like  me to tie you, I offer private sessions and photoshoots.

If you’d like to learn shibari, I offer both private lessons and affordable group workshops.

I also offer pop-up rope performances and workshops. (Ask me how to make your next party unforgettable)

The Studio

My rope studio is located in the San Francisco Mission District at 17th and South Van Ness Ave.

It’s quiet and serene, with enough space for small workshops and luxurious rope experiences.

Ichinawa

Ichinawa is a structured kinbaku course, designed by Hajime Kinoko, that teaches all the fundamentals necessary to build gorgeous ties and suspensions with confidence.

The course is split into 10 levels, starting with basics, and gradually adding complexity, covering elements of safety, anatomy, and aesthetic philosophy to create stunning, sustainable patterns.

By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently build beautiful aerial shapes, and modify your ties to accommodate a variety of body types.

Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be invited to learn advanced techniques directly from Hajime Kinoko and other Ichinawa instructors.
